| en_ES |

dc.description.abstracteng | Although teenagers are a healthy group, the recognition of serious diseases and the high prevalence of premature deaths by linking with different social problems begin at this stage. Therefore, teens has been conceptualized as a vulnerable group at risk. Because of it, the biomedical and behavioral models, have been the most used theories in the field of building knowledge on adolescent mental health. However, since the late 80s things has changed. The production of a series of theoretical and political questions, by international agencies concerned with health, has fulfilled in the world. Demanding the construction of a new framework that allows to move away from riskier approaches and traditional vulnerability in the study of adolescence, to the recognition of adolescents as agents of active rights, with skills and resources; who are builders of social change, responsible for meeting the new challenges of the world and the future of humanity. In this article, it is the intention to describe the political, theoretical and research contexts needed to support a new framework for understanding mental health of adolescents. The discussion will focus on the implications of these changes for the intervention, by recognizing the conditions for its promotion. | en_ES |
