In September 2011, the commemoration of the tenth anniversary of attack on the Twin Towers of World Trade Center took place. No doubt this episode is one of the most representative historical landmarks of contemporarytimes. However, the physical destruction that it occasioned was, by far, outweighed by the power implicit in the symbolic destruction, causing explanatory speculations that are legitimately filled with ideological and mythological features. Such explanations range from the disavowal of the “proofs” that the attack was not external, through the simplification of the crash between cultures, to the favoring and commemorating these events as if they were a deserved punishment to the Empire. Precisely for all of the above, it is necessary to reflect upon them in pursuit of different explanations, inspired in this case by the serenity of thinkers such as Derrida and Baudrillard. |
