Abstract:
La deserción escolar es un fenómeno que afecta no sólo al individuo sino también a la
sociedad al exponer a niños, jóvenes y adolescentes a contextos de pobreza, delincuencia y
marginalidad. Entre las múltiples causas de este fenómeno se ha considerado especialmente
al consumo de sustancias psicoactivas como un factor asociado a dicha deserción.
El objetivo de la presente investigación es describir las percepciones sobre el riesgo de
deserción escolar como factor relacionado con el consumo de sustancias en cuatro
estudiantes de educación básica secundaria del municipio de Envigado. Se empleó una
metodología de enfoque cualitativo, nivel descriptivo, y un tipo fenomenológico, el
instrumento de recolección de información fue una entrevista semiestructurada, la muestra
estuvo compuesta por cuatro estudiantes de bachillerato. Los resultados indican que si bien
el consumo de SPA estuvo relacionado con la deserción escolar de los participantes,
también lo estuvieron otros factores como las dificultades familiares, la falta de recursos
económicos así como el escaso apoyo familiar y de los docentes. Se resalta la necesidad de
propiciar espacios donde exista la posibilidad de involucrar a los padres dentro de los
procesos académicos y sociales de sus hijos.
