Uber dejará de operar en Colombia desde el 1 de febrero tras decisión de la SIC (la República, 2020). Con este titular del diario la República se despertó el país el día 10 de enero de 2020, y es que, el señor Pedro Ramírez presidente de Uber Technologies Inc. para Colombia anunció la salida de la compañía del país, Esta noticia tomó por sorpresa a toda Colombia. Aunque el fallo de la SIC que ordenó finalizar operaciones en el territorio nacional, estaba desde el día 20 de diciembre del 2019 nadie esperaba esta decisión tan drástica por parte de Uber. Tanto el fallo de la SIC como la decisión de Uber fueron celebradas por el gremio taxista liderada por el señor Héctor Zapata, quien lo vio como una victoria para esta industria, quienes desde la llegada de Uber en el 2013 al país han expresado su descontento al indicar que es una plataforma ilegal, que no paga impuestos y les quita su trabajo.
