The right to work is violated by military requirements, generating a problem that needs to be addressed. In Colombia, compulsory military service has been regulated through jurisprudential and normative construction to guarantee national security. However, it is necessary to evaluate whether these provisions adequately protect the rights of young people and whether there are alternatives to support the vulnerable without defining their military status. Good governance and efficient public management are key to support young people in vulnerable situations, offering job opportunities and gender equality.
