The objective of this qualitative study is to learn about social constructions based on narratives regarding vicarious violence as expressed by some of the victims of gender violence within the family context, that reflect the power relations in which women, who come to the Women's Secretariat of the municipality of Envigado for primary psychological and legal care, are immersed. The research that supports these developments is the qualitative method, with a hermeneutic approach of biographic–narrative type, which were guides to develop the present research process within the framework of social sciences. Among the manifestations of gender–based violence that were identified in contexts of domestic violence and specifically against women were intimidation and threats, followed by death threats, pushing and shoving, jealousy and persecution, threats with objects or weapons, other aggressions such as slapping, belittling, disqualification, destruction of personal items, blaming, forced sexual relations, aggressive caressing and blackmailing. In the case of children, they were rarely made visible by their fathers in the scenarios of violence suffered by women within the families and became instruments to harm their mothers. These children are victims of gender violence and in this research, it became evident that they suffer a double victimization, having lived in an environment of permanent violence directed mainly towards their mothers, were, and continue to be, witnesses of this type of violence, being one of the most important risk factors related to the physical and emotional security of childhood and adolescence.
