Abstract:
El presente artículo analiza las concepciones de la categoría tiempo en la contabilidad financiera y de gestión, así como las implicaciones gerenciales para la toma de decisiones. El tiempo, como concepto o métrica, visto lineal o cíclicamente es clave para la determinación del actuar humano y social, y para la representación de la vida organizacional, la cual se analiza y proyecta con base en las segregaciones, fraccionamientos, asociaciones e interpretaciones de los hechos socioeconómicos incluidos en los diferentes periodos de construcción y presentación de la información contable. Mediante un método de revisión narrativa y analítica de la literatura, se establen relaciones y se contrastan argumentos asociados a categorías analíticas. Los hallazgos y resultados muestran tensiones conceptuales, normativas y métricas para las organizaciones y erigen a la contabilidad como una especie de reloj social y organizacional de la vida, representando diversos sentidos de los hechos cotidianos; de esa perspectiva se deriva que la relatividad de criterios, linealidad de los periodos y asimetría de la información abundan en la práctica contable, generan imprecisiones, impactan las decisiones y hacen hincapié en la necesidad de reinterpretar el relato socioeconómico, financiero y de gestión de la contabilidad para que alcance a captar y comprender las complejas dimensiones sociales y temporales.
