Abstract:
Objetivo: comparar el proceso de ajuste de dos madres al diagnóstico de sus hijos diagnosticados con trastornos del espectro autista (TEA) mediante el modelo Doble ABCX. Método: estudio de casos comparativos con dos madres de niños diagnosticados con TEA que asisten a una fundación especializada. M1 tiene una hija de seis años con un TEA de alto funcionamiento, no presenta estereotipias ni conductas inapropiadas. Se ha caracterizado por su inasistencia a las actividades programadas por los profesionales a cargo. M2 tiene un hijo de 8 años con un TEA de bajo funcionamiento, con conductas desafiantes y desadaptativas. Es considerada con alta adherencia. Se realizó una entrevista semi-estructurada centrada en los factores del modelo. Resultados: el modelo es adecuado para explorar las áreas que intervienen en el proceso. Hay tres aspectos que emergen del análisis del modelo: importancia de las estrategias de afrontamiento, información en el proceso de empoderamiento y aprendizaje como un proceso transversal. Conclusión: el proceso de adaptación de una familia al diagnóstico de un TEA requiere un acompañamiento que favorezca el aprendizaje sobre el trastorno, el empoderamiento frente al mismo y el uso adecuado de estrategias de afrontamiento.
